March 12, 2000 Mr. Ted McBride Dear Mr. McBride: This letter is to inform you of the criminal misconduct of an individual misrepresenting himself as a bar-licensed attorney. His name is Richard Erie. In his resume to the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council, he states that he is bar licensed to practice in federal and state courts of Arizona, California, Florida, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, and South Dakota. (See attached) We have investigated his background and found that he is not bar certified in any of the above mentioned states. This is a fraudulent claim. Further, he is participation in the misappropriation of federal funds by receiving payment from the Tribe’s general fund. We are demanding the immediate investigation and prosecution of Erie.
